Parker James: 3 months

I'm a broken record, but how has it been THREE months already? This month was a big month for us. This is the month we hit our stride with Parker. Our new "normal" is actually starting to feel normal. And of course, as soon as we start to get into a good rhythm, everything is going to change again. T-minus two weeks until I return to work. While I'm looking forward to reuniting with the best team ever, I can't even put into words how much I'm going to miss this little man of mine. I'm expecting all. the. tears.

Parker won't be going back to the pediatricians until his 4-month visit, so we took it upon ourselves to try and measure his growth over the past month.

Parker at THREE months:

Weight: 12 lb. 4 oz.
Birth: 7 lbs. 7 oz.

This baby is looooong. He's starting to get some baby rolls on his arms and legs, but he's our little stretch! He's still in size 1 diapers and solely in 3-month clothes. The onesies are somehow big and small at the same time... They're baggy, but stretched to the max when snapped up!

Compared to Peyton, Parker is definitely shaping up to be the strong, silent type. Peyton at this age would chat, chat, chat. Parker is much more alert than I remember Peyton being, but he is super content just watching the world around him. He especially loves watching his big sister run around the house like a crazy person. He lights up in smiles that take over his whole face when  he sees someone he recognizes and  just loves to be held and walked around.

Parker Loves:
Being Held
His Hands
His Wubbanubs
The Magic Merlin
Bath Time
The Bumbo

Parker Hates:
Waiting for Milk
Bottles
Extended periods of time not being held
Tummy Time

What's New With Parker This  Month:

1. As of about 4 days ago, Parker has started sleeping a 10-hour stretch at night. This mama couldn't be more happy about this as my return to work is looming. We've really been trying to create and stick to a routine this month, and I definitely think it's going well. Around 7:15 every night, Peyton and Parker take a bath. Then Ryan and I split up: Ryan with Peyton and I take Parker. I rub some lavender baby lotion on his face and body and put him in his jammies and Magic Merlin. Then I nurse him and put him in his crib awake. He falls asleep within about 10 minutes and stays asleep until about 6 am, when I go in to nurse him again. He goes right back to sleep until 8:30 or so! Let's hope this trend continues when I go back to work!

2. Parker doesn't love the swing or play mat as much as Peyton did. He will tolerate them for short periods of time, but he would spend hours in his bumbo! (Not really- because he really just wants to be held 24/7 but that's just not possible!) The  bumbo is the next best thing to someone's arms and he loves hanging out on the counter while Peyton eats dinner and/or I cook!

3. We've been really working this month on getting Parker to take a bottle. He absolutely will NOT take one from me, but he has suffered through feedings by the grandparents and his daddy a few times now. We're ALL hoping this becomes easier as I leave him during the day.

4. Parker is still in a relationship with his beloved froggy wubbanub. It's always close by him and calms him almost immediately when we give it to him. On the rare occasions that froggy isn't around, he will take his hands as a back-up, usually sucking his thumb and index finger simultaneously until they're red. Whatever soothes you, kiddo.

5. Our little man has rolled a few times from his tummy to his back. He can't do it every time yet, but I don't think its a fluke anymore! Unless he's sleeping though, he would much rather be on his side than his back or tummy, so he rolls from side to side pretty well.
